Relaxed Cinema in Godalming (RCiG)

The Film Society, with the help of Godalming Town Council, Community Foundation for Surrey, Waverley Borough Council, CareUK and Vantage Publishing, has established Relaxed Cinema in Godalming (RCiG) to show films in the Wilfrid Noyce Centre.

The purpose of RCiG is to enable those with mental health conditions such as Dementia or Autism, and other film lovers with physical conditions that prevent them from accessing cinema in the local multiplex, to see films on a large screen in an environment that suits them.

The screenings are run entirely by volunteers and free to enter. Those that attend often make voluntary donations to help cover the costs. We use the main hall of the Wilfrid Noyce Centre in Godalming.

The schedule of upcoming films for 2024 are:

  • Saturday 20 January - "Viva Las Vegas"
  • Saturday 16 March - "Dirty Dancing"
  • Saturday 18 May - "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat"
All films start at 2:15 pm (doors open at 1:30 pm) and are shown in the Wilfrid Noyce Centre, Godalming.

Great news!  RCiG has been granted £1200 by the Community Foundation for Surrey!  This grant (from Thomas Trust Fund) will cover the cost of a year’s worth of Relaxed Cinema.

Our thanks go to the Community Foundation for Surrey!
